About Naval Kindergarten, Kochi

Naval Kindergarten, Kochi was started in 1952, in the Barracks of INHS Sanjivani with the strength of just 30 students. Late Mrs Emily Pappaly was the headmistress. Under her tutelage, the school blossomed into a prestigious pre-primary institution of learning, especially for the small children of the Naval fraternity. She discharged her duties as Headmistress for a period of 30 years (01 June 1952 to 31 July 1982) and the school trail blazed to excellence.

On completion of 73 years of excellence this premier educational institution has grown from strength to strength. Come Jan 2026, 53,000 children would have crossed the portals of Naval Kindergarten.

To provide quality and affordable pre-primary education to the wards of the Naval fraternity.


With the perception that children learn differently and that all children are capable of learning, devise a wholesome system that would cater to individual learning capabilities of all children.

To provide an educational environment tailored to basic human characteristics, to specific characteristics of children at different ages and to the individual personalities of each child through modern methods of teaching.

To develop and instil a sense of camaraderie and patriotism.
